Harare, Zimbabwe – Zimbabwe is sending a team of driving talent to Germany as part of a broader road safety initiative, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona announced on Monday. Mhona emphasised that the trip is not merely a competition; participants are expected to bring back international experience that will help raise driving standards and reduce road accidents in the country.
In regional news, Tanzania is mourning the death of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of President Samia Suluhu Hassan. Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi confirmed that Hassan died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Zanzibar. No further details were immediately provided.
Meanwhile, a Chivhu court has sentenced Prosper Nyere Makunde to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to raping an elderly woman. Makunde was convicted by regional magistrate Tilda Mazhande.
