Zimbabwe and Belarus have announced a new cooperation agreement focused on modernising the country’s grain storage facilities and strengthening vaccine supply, with a longer-term goal of establishing a local vaccine manufacturing plant.
The initiative, revealed on August 23, 2026, aims to improve food security by upgrading grain storage infrastructure in Harare. Upgraded facilities are expected to reduce post-harvest losses and enhance the country’s ability to store strategic reserves.
As part of the partnership, Belarus will initially supply vaccines to Zimbabwe, while both countries work towards setting up a manufacturing facility on Zimbabwean soil. This will help build local capacity and reduce reliance on imported vaccines.
The collaboration underscores the growing bilateral ties between Harare and Minsk, with cooperation extending into agriculture, health, and industrial development. It also aligns with Zimbabwe’s efforts to modernise critical infrastructure and ensure resilience in food and health systems.
