Bulawayo became the centre of a cross-continental celebration on Sunday evening as Indonesia and Zimbabwe marked 40 years of diplomatic ties with a vibrant musical showcase.
The event, attended by an Indonesian delegation and senior Zimbabwean Government representatives, highlighted the growing cultural and bilateral cooperation between Harare and Jakarta. The musical evening was designed to deepen people-to-people links and showcase the artistic traditions of both nations.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries have expanded steadily over four decades, moving beyond politics into areas such as trade, education and technical cooperation. Officials view cultural exchanges like this as a way to strengthen mutual understanding and open new avenues for collaboration.
Hosting the Indonesian delegation in Zimbabwe’s second city also reflects a broader effort to decentralise international engagement beyond the capital and to promote Bulawayo’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage.
