President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works. The announcement came alongside a broader reorganisation of leadership within Zimbabwe’s independent constitutional commissions.
The President also named new chairpersons and members for several key commissions, signalling a continued effort to strengthen governance and oversight across public institutions. The appointments were made public through an official statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet.
Engineer Muguti brings a background in public administration and engineering to the role, and his appointment is expected to drive infrastructure development and local governance reforms. The new commission heads are tasked with upholding constitutional mandates and maintaining institutional independence.
These changes are part of a wider effort by the Mnangagwa administration to reposition state entities for efficient service delivery. Further appointments are expected in the coming days as the government completes its leadership restructuring.
