Movable property belonging to Nkululeko Rusununguko TV (NRTV) is expected to be auctioned on Wednesday after the military-linked broadcaster failed to settle salary arrears owed to 70 employees.
KM Auctions (Pvt) Ltd has advertised the sale of motor vehicles with a combined value of US$76,000, along with office equipment including refrigerators, printers and television sets. The auction follows a High Court order authorising seizure of the company’s assets.
The labour dispute dates back to an arbitration ruling by Patience Kavuru, who ordered NRTV to pay US$278,479.88 in outstanding wages. The broadcaster, owned by Nkululeko Rusununguko Holdings — a company in which the Zimbabwe National Army has significant interests — did not comply with the Labour Court order, prompting employees to approach the High Court for relief.
Many workers have since left the broadcaster but continue to pursue their dues. The auction is the latest development in a series of management challenges at NRTV, which has been accused of squandering millions on inflated television content.
